📕 MATHEMATICS:  We reviewed more of our numbers 11 to 20 and had a Chapter test. Please continue reinforcing tens and ones at home. 


 
 
 
📕 HISTORY: Before digging deep into our unit on the Early Civilization of Americas, we learned how the first people could have probably moved to the America from Asia. We also talked about what it was like to be a hunter and a gatherer then.


 
📕 SCIENCE: We are getting closer to end our Habitats Unit. This week students learned about food chains. We discussed about producers, consumers, and decomposers. Also, we talked about herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.

📕 MATHEMATICS:  We started our unit for numbers 0 to 20. We recognized the numbers and how to write the number word. We learned how 11 to 20 is shown in a ten frame, and how to compare and order them.  
 
📕 HISTORY: We learned about Hatshepsut, a female pharaoh who had a great contribution to Ancient Egypt. We also wrapped up this unit and can't wait for our culminating activity with our parents on Monday!


 
📕 SCIENCE: We talked about Rachel Carson, a great scientist and environmentalist. Students created the Rachel Carson foldable. We also learned all about food chains.

📕 LITERATURE / GRAMMAR: We started reading the first book of the series of Frog and Toad, "Frog and Toad Are Friends". Frog was such a patient friend of Toad's. We learn a lot from their friendship. We practiced reading aloud the first few chapters and answered a comprehension packet. 
  

📕 SAYINGS: 

📕 POETRY: The scholars did an awesome job reciting their poems in class!

📕 MATHEMATICS:  The students reviewed subtraction concepts and had their chapter test.
 
📕 HISTORY: We learned about the gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt and the Egyptian writing called hieroglyphics! Ask your child if they remember the paper the Egyptians used for writing ;) 

 
📕 SCIENCE: This week, we learned about underground habitat, and read an article about one of the underground animals, the mole! Did you know they can dig up to 18 feet in one hour? Can you find some underground animals in your trips or at home? We also discussed our last habitat for first grade, prairies.
